In Aug 2002, Zhonghua Passenger car was officially put into the market as a fully proprietary medium-high grade passenger car. | Zhonghua Passenger car Manufacturing Plant |
|
Zhonghua Passenger car Manufacturing Plant has a holding land of 350,000 m2 and an annual capacity of 100,000sets/per year as designed (two production shifts). In Oct 1998, the manufacturing plant signed the first contract for equipment purchase. At the end of 2000, it had basically fulfilled piece fitting devices and equipment installation in 4(four) key workshops. |

The production line for body outer panel pressing and the uncoiling blanking line were introduced from SCHULER, Germany, with systematic stability and a lower fault rate. Among them, the production line for body outer panel forming consists of a 2,300 ton high-speed hydraulic press and four 1,000 ton single-acting presses, with fault display and automatic die changing functions and the like, in order to guarantee the size, shape, and precision with the large-sized body outer panels and minimize reprocessing concerned. The robot system made by KUKA, Germany was introduced into the marriage line, which helps to increase productivity and guarantee quality and precision of manufactured articles. Up to 100 sets of key dies in the pressing workshop were designed and made by ITCA, Italy.

The complete new body weld production line introduced from KUKA, Germany, is highly automatic, with 30 robots to conduct fully flexible, large-batch, serialized, mixed-line production. The Body-in-white manufacturing quality is guaranteed by inspection instruments like on-line and offline inspection robots, four-door and two-cover assembly inspectors, and the complete vehicle's main inspector.

A complete set of body painting equipment was introduced from DURR, Germany (over 70% automatization). The painting line comprises four automatic electrostatic spraying devices with multiple degrees of freedom and profiling functions. Besides, an automatic vehicle identification system was introduced to realize automatic washing, automatic color changing, and automatic spray painting. The paint mixing & conveying system introduced from GRACO, USA, may fulfill one color changing within a dozen seconds or more. With the aid of sophisticated detecting instruments made by Germany or USA, the most stringent quality control with the paint film comes true. Currently there are 15 colors for customers' selection in Zhonghua Passenger cars.

The assembling operation within is controlled by a complete set of information system, including but not limited to code bar technology and "kanban" control procedures. In the assembly workshop, internationally popular, C type, suspended hoist devices are used in conveying operation, which are accurate in alignment, stable in running, and with less deviation. The assembling quality is guaranteed by the front/rear windshield gluing robot system from KUKA, Germany; tightening assembly machines from ATLAS, Germany; fillers from GRACO, USA; general assembly line from FORI, USA; complete vehicle final test line from SCHENCK , Germany, and etc.

By referring to and benefiting from ECE, DIN and SAE, a standard system specific for Zhonghua Passenger car was established, covering the complete vehicle, subsystems, and all parts or components. Thereby, in accordance of this completed set of product appraising standards, Zhonghua Passenger car Manufacturing Plant has fulfilled over 8,000 test items, for verification of both complete vehicle and parts performance with Zhonghua Passenger car. Furthermore, the manufacturing quality is guaranteed by more than 250 sets of instruments for inspection, measurement, and testing, including the 3-dimension coordinate measuring apparatus.
For guaranteeing body quality, the manufacturing plant introduced a set of main inspector for interior/exterior trimming’s inspection use and relevant overall matching frame specimen, i.e., cubing and master bock. Among them, cubing is the inspection equipment used to measure overall dimensions and effects of interior/exterior trimming. The results obtained from a particular part’s matching on the cubing are used as the basis of mathematic model revision for correcting former design defects or shortcomings. In fact, this is a most advanced conception of design and quality control, which was applied only in a few premium-quality motor vehicles’ development. Such application does help to shorten the product development cycle, guarantee the product quality, and tend to zero tolerance in parts. The cubing was designed and made by LANGER, Germany, the only cubing company authorized by BMW, Germany.
A product database management system has been introduced in Zhonghua Passenger car’s complete-process product quality control. 13 Sets of CATIA product design software are used in direct data transfer from and to domestic and/or foreign suppliers, while PDM data management system---inclusive of complete-process tracking of 3-dimension models, engineering drs, finite element analysis, and etc., plus flow chart revision control---helps to offer the product’s latest mathematic models to both product and process divisions and accordingly realize data share. Thus, with the aid of PDM data management system, an integrated database, inclusive of all mathematic models and technological files associated with complete vehicle design, is set up, which lays a sound foundation for new product development with Zhonghua Passenger car. |
